Abstract Characteristics of high buildings, such as highly air-tight envelopes and lack of operable windows make it difficult to meet the ventilation needs without mechanical ventilation. In the case of high building, indoor air leakage of building upper by stack effect occur in the winter. And heat recovery ventilation system installed for ventilation is the main exhaust passage of indoor air. Therefore inside-surface temperature of heat recovery ventilation system is lower than dew point temperature, condensation will occur. In this study, in order to identify the effects of air-tight damper, experiments were carried out. As a result of the experiment, the air tight damper device was effective in preventing air leakage inside the device.
