Abstract This study was to identify factors related to self-rated health status among vulnerable population in a city. A total of 813 of community-dwelling adults over the age of 19 years were drawn from a study of the community health survey of a city in 2009. The original study was a population-based epidemiological survey of community health with a probability proportional systematic sampling. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, χ² test, t-test, ANCOVA and multiple regression with the SPSS/WIN 19.0. There were statistically significant difference among vulnerable group, not vulnerable group regarding the gender, age, education, occupation, marital status, residential district, family member, family income per month, self-rated health status, health-related quality of life, depression. In vulnerable group, 50.2% of variance in self-rated health status was explained by health-related quality of life, number of diseases, age, education and depression. In not vulnerable group, 41.7% of variance in self-rated health status was explained by health-related quality of life, number of diseases, age, depression, education and health behavior. Finding of this study may be useful in understanding the health status of the community-dwelling vulnerable population and developing tailored interventions to enhance health status among vulnerable population in a local area.
