Abstract In this paper, a typical office building that has overheating problem due to Double Skin Facade(DSF) is selected to verify the problem and propose solution. The problems are verified by analyzing the measured weather condition of outdoor, airflow and temperature of inside of the DSF. In addition, alternatives as passive and active methods are suggested to invigorate the natural and mechanical ventilation of inside of the DSF by applying a Solar Chimney Channel(SCC) and mechanical exhaust fan at upper outlet of it. Then, Energyplus simulation with airflow network is conducted to analyze on thermal, airflow condition and indoor cooling load of each alternative. As a result of actual measurement, in order to reduce cooling load from the DSF, the concentration of heated air must be discharged to keep the advantageous boundary condition by enforcing ventilation in the intermediate space. As a result of simulation, the method of extending SCC by 3rd floors height(11.6 m) and enhancing thermal effect by increasing solar transmittance of outer skin and solar absorptivity of inner wall surface at the SCC path is verified to reduce the most annual cooling load by 2.84% compared with baseline simulation model. Also, advantageous function in cooling energy saving is verified at the method of natural ventilation by SCC compared with the mechanical exhaust fan(?2.62%).
