Abstract |
The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of 10 weeks Taekwondo training with leek intake on body composition, liver enzymes and immune function in high school male students. Experimental groups were Taekwondo training with leek-pill diet (A, n = 8), Taekwondo training (B, n = 8), leek-pill diet (C, n = 8), and control group (D, n = 8). The findings of this study were as follows; Lean body mass was significantly increased in Taekwondo training with leek-pill diet and Taekwondo training group. The % fat was significantly reduced in Taekwondo training with leek-pill diet group compared to control group. GOT levels were significantly reduced in Taekwondo training with leek-pill diet and leek-pill diet groups compared to control group. GPT level was reduced after 10wks of leekpill diet. The IgA level was significantly increased in Taekwondo training with leek-pill diet group. However, The lgA level was decreased in control group showed. The lgM was significantly increased in Taekwondo training with leek pill diet group compared to other two groups. According to the results of the study 10 weeks of Taekwondo training with leek supplementation has beneficial effects on improving body composition, liver enzymes, and immune function in high school male students. |
