Abstract The purpose of this study is to examine the attitude and clothing behavior of adolescent patients with atopic dermatitis. Survey by questionnaires was conducted to 340 middle school students in Gyeonggi and Chungcheong Provinces on April ~ June 2009. Their main symptoms were xeroderma in winter, and urendo in other seasons. The seasons when their symptoms were getting worse show a meaningful difference depending on the part of their body. The worse urendo and the longer period of illness suffering the group had, the more active they are to their hospital treatment, the degree of awareness about the clothing therapy are very low. The atopic dermatitis patients relieved their dermatitis, when they wore cotton clothes and used soft shower towels and hypo-allergic detergents. Compared with other factors, the degree of their consideration about clothing materials was low. The longer the washing cycle was and the less separately washing was made and the more synthetic detergents and fabric softeners were used, the more severe their symptoms was. More systematic education is necessary to Adolescent how to choose the material, wear and wash the clothing helping relieve the symptoms of atopic dermatitis. It is urgent to develop the clothing material which moisturizing effect are outstanding or the processing method of fabric to improve the moisturizing.
