Abstract This study is to improve the indoor acoustic environment of an existed multipurpose conference hall. For the purpose of it, computer simulation and field measurement about room acoustics are carried out after reviewing the floor plan and the indoor elevation plan by the building design draft of the subject multipurpose conference hall. Acoustical improvement plans are proposed by building acoustical computer simulation about reverberation time, sound pressure level distribution, D50, and RASTI. Room acoustics were examined by field measurement after construction of the subject hall by the improvement plan. As a result, the average reverberation time at 500 Hz was measured to be 2.22 seconds which is not suitable for conference hall. Reverberation time at 50 0Hz showed 1.35 seconds which is close to acoustical design goal 1.3 seconds after construction by the improvement plan of which the sound absorption of the subject conference hall is controlled. D50 improved to be 51.5% at 500Hz after construction by the improvement plan in comparison with 24.1% in existed subject hall. And, the average RASTI in the improved hall showed 0.61 which is evaluated "good" in comparison with 0.3 which is evaluated "poor" in the existed hall.
