Abstract |
Consideration of the indoor environment quality conditions and the related physical degradation of the building environment systems is essential in the assessment of a remodeling plan for a building. Based on the results of indoor environment quality assessments, the predicted potential of remodeling actions and the effectiveness of the remodeling interventions can be evaluated. This paper describes the process of assessing the indoor environment quality in commercial buildings. Specifically, the indoor environment quality of the two office buildings and one hospitality facility (hotel) are evaluated as one of the phases in the remodeling process. Thermal comfort and air quality conditions as well as luminous environment conditions are measured, and proposed lighting design options through computer simulation are compared. |
