Abstract |
Korean consumers are demanding an increase in building quantities as well as diversity in the construction market of buildings. This is as a result of the population growth and the rapid economic development since 1980. Although many buildings have been built to meet these demands, the insufficient maintenance related technologies and old indoor materials have reduced both the capacity of building performance as well as the economy. Nowadays, building renovations have proved to be a better alternative as 74 percentage of constructed buildings have been used for more than 15 years. The Korean government is trying to establish a policy and system in reference to remodeling. Buildings have a high possibility to reduce the energy use. Many researchers also acknowledge the fact that building remodeling come in handy amid our struggle to save energy as the world runs out of natural resources. In order to encourage building renovations, the World's leading countries are offering subsidy policies, reduction of tax and low interest loan. However, these methods for activation have problems with different current conditions in Korea and other countries. The purpose of this study is to present the appropriate methods for the activation of remodeling laws and measures for example government-given incentives to the local construction markets as a motivation to abide by the remodeling laws |
