Abstract The study demonstrates the positive effects of urban greening on the reduction of carbon dioxide (CO2) through quantifying CO2 uptake of some greenery plants. CO2 gas was to be maintain on constant concentration in 1,400(L) × 800(W) × 1,200(H)mm size temperature and humidity chamber. In the temperature ranges were 25 ℃ ~ 40 ℃, it was to be increase 3 ℃ under the 3hours interval. This experimental 9 plants were Zoysia japonica, Lysimachia nummularia, Sedum takesimense, Sedum sarmentosum, Liriope platyphylla etc.. The high concentrate CO2 uptake plants were Zoysia japonica at 25 ~ 28 ℃ after irrigation and Lysimachia nummularia. Especially Lysimachia nummularia was the best under the low irrigation maintenance which absorbed 0.2~0.5 mg·l -1·min.?1 at 3rd day after irrigation. However the Sedum species which were the most commonly used on dry condition like green roof were low concentrate CO2 uptake. From this study, it is confirmed that many greenery plants has capacity of absorption CO2 and effects on improving urban microclimate under proper irrigation management.
