Title Factors that Influence Smart Phone Addiction among Middle School Students

Abstract This study was done to identify factors influencing smart phone addiction in middle school students. Data were collected by questionnaires from 475 middle school students in D metropolitan city. Measures were parental rearing attitude, social support, school adaptation, self-efficacy, impulsiveness, sociability, and smart phone addiction. Data were analyzed using frequencies, means and standard deviation, t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficients, and multiple regression with SPSS/WIN 19.0 version. Smart phone addiction correlated positively with impulsiveness and negatively with parental rearing attitude, social support, school adaptation, self-efficacy, and sociability. According to the research, factors influencing smart phone addiction in middle school students were parental rearing attitude, social support, time of alone, school record, and sociability. The study findings provide basic data to develop an intervention program in order to prevent smart phone addiction in middle school students.
