Abstract Sleep is psychological and physiological restoration as well as energy replenishment time that are necessary for every human being. However, in the big cities, with the acceleration of global warming, the number of days where tropical night occurs, during which the outside temperature is over 25oC in the summer nights, has increased causing extremely hot weather that makes people complain about discomfort during sleep. With this to consider, researches on air conditioner control algorithm that can make indoor environment a realization and sustain pleasant and comfortable sleep during tropical nights are required. This experiment was conducted to study the effect of room temperature changes on sleep and to develop air conditioner control algorithm for comfortable sleep. Therefore, in terms of power saving and comfortable sleep were evaluated for influence on the sleep the presence or absence of an ambient temperature change. This study conclusion as follows. For realizing a comfortable sleep environment, it is required that air conditioner algorithm can be controlled room temperature separately by the first half and second half of sleep time.
