A total of 276 Korean students and 236 Japanese students were selected as research subjects and surveyed. Result: The results indicate that normal BMI made up the highest percentage of both Japanese and Korean female college students. The results showed a higher percentage of underweight students in the Japanese population, while the percentage of overweight and obese students was higher among the Korean population. In regards to their body image, both Japanese and Korean students expressed dissatisfaction with their body type, but the percentage of those dissatisfied with their body was higher among Japanese students. Both Japanese and Korean students indicated that they dieted through exercise and regulating their eating, and the survey showed that Korean students experienced a greater amount of weight loss. Korean students largely exercised for diet and favored aerobic exercise, while Japanese students generally exercised as a hobby and favored complex exercise. In regards to the students' desired results through dieting, most Korean students answered "overall weight loss" while most Japanese students hoped to lose weight in specific areas with which they felt unsatisfied. |
