Abstract It is not easy to find an effective way to reduce heavyweight impact sound in an apartment house which has slab whose thickness is 120mm and below compared with newly built apartment houses which are required to secure heavyweight impact sound reducing performance with thick slab and floor structure. In recent years, slab integrated floor structure which constructs by integrating a slab and materials on the slab is presented as a way that can enhance heavyweight impact sound blocking performance in existing houses with thin slab. The purpose of this study is to clarify an effect of characteristics of integrated slab upper structure on heavyweight impact sound. Integrated slab upper structure is classified into general light weight aerated concrete, heat insulating material mixed cement, and light weight aerated concrete made with pozzolan cement. Floating floor which is used most at present is used. This study found that light weight aerated concrete of floating floor has an effect on heavyweight impact sound blocking performance and type that heat insulating material mixed cement is effective in reducing heavyweight impact sound.
