Abstract |
This study was done to identify the stages of change, processes of change, decisional balance, pros and cons, self-efficacy and job stress influence relating to exercise behavior change in workers. Methods: The subjects were 282 workers using structured questionnaires. The data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA and multiple regression using SPSS 21.0 program. Results: The subjects were 11.0% precontemplation, 27.7% contemplation, 23.4% preparation, 11.3% action and 26.6% maintenance stage of change. The changes in the stages of exercise behavior were significant at all stages in cognitive strategy(F=13.22, p=.001) and behavioral strategy (F=42.24, p=.001). For the decisional balance depending on the stage of change, there were significant differences in pros(F=27.0 p<.001) and cons(F=5.5, p<.001). Self-efficacy(F= 27.0, p<.001) and job stress(F=3.1, p=.016) also showed significant differences in the stage of changes. Self-efficacy, cognitive strategy, behavioral strategy and cons account for 29.9% of the regularly exercise. Conclusion: The results suggest that it is necessary for exercise behavior change in adult workers to increase the stage progresses using behavioral process of change in stage-matched. Intervention should be aimed to increase pros and minimize cons and job stress and emphasize self-efficacy at each stage. |
