Abstract |
This study aimed to determine the effect of 6 weeks plyometric training (PT) on agility, vertical jump and isokinetic leg strength in korea ROTC (Reserve Officers' Training Corps) cadets. Subjects were divided into two groups, a plyometric training (N=12) and a control group (N=12). The plyometric training group performed in a eight weeks plyometric training program((i.e., jumping, hopping, sprint, bounding) and the control group did not perform any plyometric training techniques. Plyometric were performed twice a week for 6 weeks. A pre and post test was conducted to measure alility, vertical jump(VJ), and isokinetic leg strength(knee extention, knee flexion). After 6 weeks plyometric training, the maximal isokinetic strength of the knee extensors and flexors significantly increased (p<0.05) compare to control group. The results showed that the agility significantly decreased (p<0.05) in plyometric training group compare to control group. But the vertical jump significantly increased (p<0.05) in plyometric training group compare to control group. It was concluded that plyometric training can not only improve agility and vertical jump performance but also enhance isokinetic leg strength in korea ROTC cadets. |
