Abstract |
The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of reminiscence therapy on cognitive function, depression, and quality of life among community-dwelling elderly people. A quasi-experimental with non-equivalent control group pretest-posttest design was implemented. The participants were elderly people over 65 years of age, without dementia (experimental group: 29, control group: 26), who received home visiting health service from community health center. The participants in the experimental group received reminiscence therapy for six weeks to examine the effects of this therapy. After providing the reminiscence therapy to the elderly in the experimental group, significant positive effect on cognitive function and quality of life, as compared to those in the comparison group was found. These findings indicate that the reminiscence therapy could be an effective intervention program to improve cognitive function and quality of life among elderly. |
