Abstract Children’s museums are educational and social institutions that meet the interests and needs of children through exhibitions and programs that stimulate children’s curiosity and motivation. Since the first children’s museum was built for more than 120 years, it has undergone a conceptual failure after experiencing revolutionary museum for children in 1960’s. Despite the conceptual drift and controversy, however, quantitative growth has proved that there are over 130 children’s museums built over the last 20 years, with over 350 children’s museums now in operation, with ongoing demand. This research presents the new value of children’s museum such as large-scaling, various programs, eco-friendly, and the core of the community through analyzing the change of the architectural paradigm of the children’s museum centered on the US since the 1960’s.
