Abstract |
This study conducted and analyzed a question investigation on the fire safety awareness of merchants who stay long in traditional markets with high fire risks. 52% of the merchants were aged 60 years or older, 47% had careers of at least 20 years there, and 39% were working at least 10 hours a day on average. Experience of fire safety education for merchants influenced their perception of the importance of safety education and their fire safety awareness. Support policies for fire were different depending on the existence of measures for fire. Experience on fire exhibited a significant difference in the concern over fire in buildings. It was found that the merchants were aware of the fire risks in traditional markets but they preferred pleasant environments through improved heating and cooling facilities and aesthetic modernization to the maintenance of aging facilities. |
