Abstract Sustainable regeneration of the old residential area promotes the quality improvement of the poor environment and coexists with maintaining the identity of the city through the formation of the inhabitants community. The Crime Prevention Through Environment Design(CPTED), which eliminates the possibility of crime by improving the environment of the old residential area, is becoming important as part of urban regeneration. The purpose of this study is to find a methodology that has a great synergy effect on the improvement of residential environment for villages that are safe from crime. The research method is to identify the improved status of The Wall Removal, investigate the correlation with elements of crime prevention environment design, and analyze the effectiveness of CPTED in Sungdae Valley. The Sungdae valley has a safe alley environment created by The Wall Removal Project and Crime Prevention Through Environment Design(CPTED), improved residential environment enhances cooperative safety networks and proves the effectiveness of community rebuilding.
