Abstract |
Few studies have investigated the physical stability and mobility of elderly women, flexibility and specific acceptability of lower body. This study aims to evaluate of body function and dynamic balance in elderly women by using FMS and Y-balance. Twenty one women were divided into two groups according to age. Elderly women group(EG, n = 11, 63.7±3.9yrs) and young women(YG, n = 10, 22.7±1.4yrs). Body movement function was measured by Functional movement screen(FMS) and dynamic balance was measured by Y-balance test(YBT). Independent t-tests were performed to verify item differences between groups. In the FMS, Inline lunge and Shoulder mobility of EG were statistically lower than YG (p <.01). In the YBT, the values of posteriolateral and posteriomedial balance of the left leg of the EG were statistically lower than those of YG (p <.05). These results suggested that when performing exercise for elderly women, functional movements such as flexibility of the Shoulder and waist region should be improved and the dynamic balance of the left lower limb should be developed. |
