Abstract |
The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of functional muscle training program based Functional Movement Screen(FMS) during 8-weeks on muscle function, body balance, flexibility and functional movement in 60s elderly female. Twenty elderly female(aged 62.5±4.7 yrs) were classified into two groups, functional exercise group (FG, n=10) and control group (CG, n=10). FG was performed functional muscle training program based FMS, 50 minutes a day, three times a week, for eight weeks. The training intensity was 4~11 Rated Perceived Exertion(RPE). The CG was allowed to perform daily activities without special activities. The six items of FMS such as static balance, dynamic balance, isometric strength, range of motion(ROM)s of ankle, knee and hip were mearsured. The one leg standing closed eye of FG was significantly increased after 8 weeks of exercise(p<.05). In the posteromedial right balance and composite score right in the dynamic balance(YBT) of FG were also significantly increased(p<.05), respectively. In the FMS items, hurdle step and active straight leg raise showed significant interaction (p<.05), those of FG showed a tendency of to be improve. There were a significant difference between pre and post experimental periods in the ROM of the hip, knee, and ankle(p<.05), respectively. There were also a significant difference between pre and post in isometric muscle strength of right knee flexor, left knee extensor, right dorsiflexor, right plantar flexor and left plantar flexor(p<.05), respectively. These results suggested that the functional muscle training program based FMS is mediator that can positively influence the performance of the movement by stabilization of the pelvis and core in the 60s elderly female. |
