Abstract Diabetes is associated with impairment of male reproduction ability. This study aims to investigate the effects of resistance exercise training on expression of CatSper-1, GLUT-8 protein in testis and blood inflammatory markers in diabetic rats. At 24 weeks of age, OLETF and LETO rats(N=30) were randomly assigned to a control group(CON, n=10), diabetes group(DM, n=10) and diabetes and resistance exercise group(DM+EXE, n=10). The DM+EXE group was trained progressively on a ladder climbing, 3 days per weeks for 12 weeks. In the testis, CatSper-1 and GLUT-8 protein expression were significantly increased in DM+EXE group compared with DM group(p<.05). Serum IL-6 and TNF-α were significantly decreased in DM+EXE group compared to DM group, whereas IL-10 was significantly increased in DM+EXE group. And HOMA-IR index also was significantly lower in DM+EXE group than DM group(p<.05). These results showed that 12 weeks resistance exercise training can improve male reproductive function in diabetes conditions.
