Abstract Recently, as an countermeasure of airborne infectious diseases such as SARS and MERS, the Korean government enacted standards of isolation for the prevention and control of infectious diseases in hospitals. In this study, UR-UVGI system, which is one of the effective methods to prevent airborne infections by inactivating airborne pathogen, was applied to general outpatient department and evaluated by CFD analysis. As a result, the overal concentration of airborne contaminants from an infected patient was decreased by operating UR-UVGI and the sterilization performance was proved. However, the performance was considerably affected by the operating method of air conditioning systems.
