Abstract In this paper, the annual pattern of gas energy consumption in apartment buildings analyzed using dynamic time warping(DTW) hierarchical clustering method. It also proposed a process for the building energy intensity that reflected of cluster analysis, and the gas energy intensity was constructed based on energy use patterns by clustering. In order to evaluated the proposed energy intensity, monthly energy consumption was predicted and compared with the predicted values based on the conventional traditional intensity. As a result, it was analyzed that the error rate of the result by proposed energy intensity was 11.67% lower than the traditional energy intensity, which better reflected the characteristics of energy consumption.
