Title Effects of Amount of Spirulina Supplements on Aerobic Power and Lipid Profile in Soccer Players

Abstract Purpose: The purpose of this study is to provide necessary experimental data in improving the aerobic power and enhancing competitiveness of soccer players. This study analyzed if amount of taking spirulina had an effect on aerobic power and lipid profile of soccer players. Methods: In this study, 30 men soccer players in Y university who did not take both specific drug and dietary supplement in recent six months were chosen as the experimental subject.
Those 30 players were divided into three groups, that is, Taking 2 g Spirulina Group (n=10), Taking 1 g Spirulina Group (n=10) and Control Group (n=10). Aerobic power were all-out on Bruce protocol Results: Through the process above, the results in this study were obtained as follows: 1. The maximum oxygen uptake of players showed slowly increased tendency along with the increase in dose of spirulina. 2. Taking spirulina made the total cholesterol and triglyceride in players decrease. Conclusion: Through the conclusions above, ability of aerobic exercise and lipid profile changed positively after soccer players took spirulina. In addition, in an aspect of dose, it is thought that taking 2 g spirulina was more effective than taking 1 g spirulina.
