Abstract This study aims to verify the effect of social norm messages on health promotion. Through the prior research, this study explored the findings that social norm messages affect arousal, and that arousal affects health promotion.
Based on this exploration, we assumed that social norm messages increase health promotion rather than normal messages when arousal is used as a mediation. Experimental research was carried out for verification. A total of 120 participants (60 males, 60 females) participated in the experiment. The results of this study are as follows. First, social norm messages have more static effect on arousal than normal messages. Second, social norm messages have more static influence on health promotion than normal messages. lastly, social norm messages have a greater impact on health promotion than normal messages when arousal is used as a mediation.
