Abstract This study proposes the distribution of indoor daylight illuminance that changes according to the depth of the overhang applied to the office space in Dubai. The effect of overhang depth to indoor daylight illuminance in an office space located in Dubai region was predicted based on the simulation using the Radiance. Three depths of overhang were applied to the south-facing space under clear sky conditions and simulations were conducted on a hourly basis for three representative days of year. The linear relationship between overhang depth and indoor daylight illuminance were analyzed. The relationship between them were strong and prediction model for them were meaningful under a significance level of 0.05. In March and December, the daylight illuminance reduced as the depth of overhang increased. In June, the overhang depth has no effect on the indoor daylight illuminance.
