Abstract The purpose of this experiment was to investigate the effect of swimming exercise on vascular endothelial growth factors expression orchiectomized rats. The experimental animals were divided into three groups (n=10 in each group): the normal control group(CON), control group with orchiectomized(ORC+Con) and swimming exercise group with orchiectomized(ORC+SE). Male orchiectomized rats performed five daily bouts of 30 min swimming per week for 16 weeks. After swimming exercise for 16 weeks, serum testosterone concentration of ORC+SE groups were significantly increased compared to ORC+Con groups(p<.05). NO concentration were not significantly different between groups. VEGF mRNA expression of ORC+SE groups were significantly increased compared to ORC+Con groups(p<.05).
In conclusion, 16 weeks swimming exercise training may prevent to atherosclerosis to negative change carotid artery in orchiectomized rats.
