Abstract |
The purpose of this experiment was to investigate the effect of swimming exercise on vascular endothelial growth factors expression orchiectomized rats. The experimental animals were divided into three groups (n=10 in each group): the normal control group(CON), control group with orchiectomized(ORC+Con) and swimming exercise group with orchiectomized(ORC+SE). Male orchiectomized rats performed five daily bouts of 30 min swimming per week for 16 weeks. After swimming exercise for 16 weeks, serum testosterone concentration of ORC+SE groups were significantly increased compared to ORC+Con groups(p<.05). NO concentration were not significantly different between groups. VEGF mRNA expression of ORC+SE groups were significantly increased compared to ORC+Con groups(p<.05). In conclusion, 16 weeks swimming exercise training may prevent to atherosclerosis to negative change carotid artery in orchiectomized rats. |
