| Abstract |
This study aimed to explore risk factors for solitary deaths through focus group interviews. The focus group interviews and participants consisted of three groups with ten community health care professionals, six elderly peoples and seven middle aged men living alone. Content analysis of the focus group interviews revealed seven categories and 21 themes of risk factors. The seven categories identified were economic challenges, housing characteristics, illnesses, psychological distress, health behaviors, broken social networks, and accidents and disasters. Based on the findings of this study, it can be utilized as foundational data for identifying individuals at risk of solitary death and establishing a management system to prevent and manage the solitary deaths. |
