Abstract The purpose of this study is to investigate the association between ACTN3 gene polymorphism and grip strength. 184 students in Korea were recruited for this study. Body composition (height, weight, body mass index, percent body fat), grip strength and gene polymorphism were analyzed. The ACTN3 genotype frequencies were found to be in Hardy-Weinberg Equilibrium. Moreover, There was a significant difference between ACTN3 gene polymorphism and grip strength in male participants. In conclusion, These results are considered to be an important indicator that can be utilized in developing exercise programs for the prevention of sarcopenia.
