Abstract This study aimed to explore the benefits and limitations of applying care robots in the healthcare field from a sociotechnical perspective. Following Arksey and O’Malley’s framework for scoping reviews, the research was conducted and the results were classified into four dimensions: technical, social?human, organizational, and macro-environmental. A total of 21 studies were ultimately included. The findings showed that the technical (76.2%), social?human (66.7%), organizational (47.6%), and macro-environmental (23.8%) dimensions were primarily addressed, with five studies encompassing all four dimensions. Moving forward, when integrating care robots into healthcare practice, it is essential to develop human?robot collaboration models, establish ethical standards for the use of care robots, and advance robot technologies that reflect the needs of care recipients.
