Abstract |
In this study, we have developed an algorithm to detect the location of AE source that can be used in predicting the location and direction of the cracking before they are observed in visual inspection. The algorithm consists of determination of the arrival time difference of the AE signal (reference when the first order P wave exceeds the threshold), determination of wave velocity (pencil lead breaking method), and an iterative calculation routine of the AE source location. The utility of the algorithm is verified by comparing the results of a visual inspection of the cracking with prismatic specimen subjected to compressive load and the reinforced concrete beam subjected to repeated flexural load.
