Abstract |
This study examined the various properties of solidified container materials for disposal of radioactive wastes, which were produced by using granulated ground waste concrete generated in radioactive waste concrete treatment, such as via the dismantling, sawing, crushing, and triturating processes. Sawed waste concrete powders (SWCPs) generated by sawing using a diamond wire saw and imitation samples of the ground granulated waste concrete powders (GGWCPs) were used to simulate the solidified container materials. The solidified container materials made using 50 % GGWCPs and 50 % SWCPs exhibited 2.6 times higher 28-day compressive strength than the counterpart specimen prepared using GGWCPs only. In addition, the replacement of 5 % granulated ground blast furnace slags and Ca(OH)2 mixture significantly enhanced the compressive strength of the solidified container materials using 50 % GGWCPs and 50 % SWCPs, yielding 3.5 times higher 28-day compressive strength than the minimum strength requirement for solidified container materials.
