Title Evaluation of Development Length of Grade 700 MPa Deformed Bars in Tension

Abstract Twenty-four beam tests were performed to obtain development lengths of high strength straight reinforcing bars with yield strength of 689~778 MPa and diameters of 19 mm and 25 mm. A total of 412 anchorage length test data, including the results of this experiment and those of other researchers, were compared with the design development length formula of the ACI 318-19, the KCI Structural Concrete Design Code, the Korean Highway Bridge Design Code and the ACI 408-03. All of the design standards showed higher safety for confined reinforcing bars than for unconfined reinforcing bars, and different safety for high strength reinforcing bars. In particular, the design development length formula of the KCI code was found to be on the non-safety side for Grade 700 MPa reinforcing bars.
