Abstract This study analyzed the performance of a newly developed double-arched steel fiber to propose a prediction model for the steel fiber. Experiments were conducted to evaluate the pullout resistance and energy absorption capacity of the double-arched fiber compared with those of the hooked-end and single-arched steel fibers. Double-arched steel fiber demonstrated high peak and residual pullout resistance, approximately 1.3 to 2.3 times those of the hooked-end and single-arched steel fibers. Energy absorption capacity was also large, approximately 1.5 to 2.3 times that of the hooked-end and single-arched steel fibers. In addition, the proposed prediction model of the pullout behavior for the double-arch steel fiber exhibited a peak pullout load similar to the experimental results with a slight difference of approximately 1.7 %. In addition, the residual pullout resistance and energy absorption performance obtained from the prediction model were also very similar to those in the experiments.
