Abstract |
Abstract: In this study, a direct pull-out test was conducted for the embeded reinforcing bars in concrete blocks in which wood-based biochar was used as a partial replacement for cement in order to experimentally investigate the bond performance of biochar concrete. The main experimental variables were the biochar replacement ratio (0%, 5%, and 7%) and the embedded length of the reinforcing bars (90 mm, 160 mm, and 230 mm). The experimental results showed that the compressive strength of concrete tended to decrease as the biochar replacement ratio increased due to the porous structure of biochar. Although concrete compressive strength decreases when the replacement rate is 5%, bond strength can be appropriately evaluated using the formula previously proposed for ordinary concrete to find the appropriate anchorage length to induce rebar yielding.
