Abstract This study evaluated the early-age hydration heat of cement pastes and slump, compressive strength, and total shrinkage of concretes with four binder systems (OPC, FA25, BS50, and BS65SF5) based on nuclear power plant concrete mixture designs. Compared with OPC, blended binders reduced cumulative heat release at 72 h by 15.4?40.2 % and the main heat-flow peak by 25.1?58.1 %. The blended concretes reached 21?23 MPa at 7 days and all exceeded the 28 MPa target at 91 days. At 150 days, FA25 showed approximately 7 % less total shrinkage than OPC, whereas BS65SF5 showed approximately 50% more. For BS65SF5, 63.0% of its 150-day cumulative shrinkage occurred within 7 days. Thus, reduced early-age heat did not necessarily correspond to lower total shrinkage. BS65SF5 achieved the greatest heat reduction but exhibited the largest shrinkage, highlighting
