Abstract |
Due to the Chung Gye Chun restoration, its spin-offs are spreading out Sungdong-Gu area. A traditional cattle market, which is located in Majang-Dong in Sungdong-Gu near Chunggye-Chun was formed naturally in 1960’s. At that time, the traditional cattle market had moved to this area and a slaughterhouse had opened its business. Ever since then, this market has become the biggest livestock market in Korea and it has set high value on its uniqueness. However, the market has turned into a nuisance to the residents of the nearby apartment complexes. Because it has become superannuated and has impeded the residential environment. The residents are constantly raising complains related to the market. It is also obvious that there will be another kind of conflict about infillling area which is newly constructed between the residents and the park users after the restoration of Cheonggye-Chun. Thus, this study suggests that it is reasonable to build pedestrian paths along Chunggye-Chun for the residents and the park users so that they won’t have to pass through the traditional cattle market. This will also create better environment to the market area through the revitalization planning. |
