Abstract |
The purpose of this study is to analyze the characteristics of wind movement and air flow according to the layouts of housing estates and the placement of pilotis in an apartment complex. The analysis was conducted on four different types of layouts for the impact on the wind movement and flow. The velocity of wind was calculated at the “pedestrian level,” which is 1.5 meter from the ground level for the four types of layout. The wind velocity ratio is defined as the difference between the wind velocities entering and exiting the apartment housing. The layout types selected for the analysis are grid linear type, tower type and the combination of grid and linear type. Ultimately, as the size of pilotis opening is larger, and as the blockage ratio is smaller, the velocity ratio increases. The planning of wind movement and flow in an apartment estate relates to the improvement of internal and external air quality. The planning for wind movement and flows not only improves the exterior wind velocity ratio and balances air quality within the apartment estate, but also provides better ventilation and air quality for the apartment units. |
