Abstract The mixed-up use for land caused by non-residential uses such as commercial uses that simultaneously occurred in most of detached housing area within the housing land development area were the deterioration factor of neighborhood environment. And because of the permission for building multiple family units in detached housing area since 1980s, a lot of problems followed due to high density of the area, such as securing enough open space for the residences, difficulties in forming of neighborhood community and the overburdening of infrastructure. This research analysed buildings, its use, type of the facilities and parking area in detached houses of Jeonju's Seosin district to figure out what the problems of the town are. The conclusion are as follows; Due to the fact that the multiple family units are extremely dense in the area, the demands for parking space are far beyond of the original plan. And the dissatisfactions related to this problem caused a lot of troubles such as deterioration of village environment, illegal parking on roads. From this one can conclude that the building of the multiple family units in urban areas must be controlled. In order to improve the quality of the town, there must be a whole reassessment in planning of density and the public facilities, and also there should be a further division of zoning for residential use between single dwelling zone and apartments.
