Abstract |
This research has analyzed and examined the changes toward the volume of pedestrians activity, shop sales, land value and land use before and after moving the public institution in order to determine the detrimental economic effect of moving the Jeonbuk provincial office, which was located in downtown Jeonju, and by doing so, give suggestions for the revival of downtown have been derived. The results of this research are as follows. First, volume of pedestrian activity was reduced by 28.9% and 17.0% on weekdays and weekends respectively, and was greatly effected by the transferring of public institutions out of the city centre. Second, the decreasing rate of pedestrian traffic on weekdays and weekends was analyzed as having a high correlation with each other. Third, store sales were decreased to 67% of stores. The land value was analyzed as having dropped by about 8%. Fourth, the impact of the transfer of public institutions was analyzed to be relatively low with respect to the streets in which specialized retail functions are concentrated. |
