Abstract |
With the dilapidation and functional reduction of port, factory, warehouse, water transportation, railway, military, farming, mining, and transportation facilities built in the modernization process, efforts to bring new functional life into these and efforts for resource reutilization of the deteriorating industrial facilities are being made in various parts of the world. The reason why this approach is being adopted everywhere is because these are recognized as industrial heritage with a concept of advancement rather than simply industrial facilities or machinery. This is the fundamental study to find the basis to keep ‘Namseon Warehouse’ which was constructed at Choryang in 1900 to store pollack, as a ‘historical commemorative’ of the port city of Busan under the basic recognition that ‘industrial heritage equals regional assets’. This study was conducted in 3 stages. The first stage examined the meaning inherent in a warehouse of a port city as an industrial heritage to provide the theoretical basis that it can be considered as a regional asset through literary research. The second stage which conducted field studies on advanced cases in the reuse of warehouses. In the 3rd stage, 9 possibilities were explored within 5 scenarios for Namseon Warehouse. This study is an open-ended research without a predetermined end. Because of this, there is many inadequate aspects, but it is eagerly expected that this study would become a starting point in raising the discussion for the reuse of Namseon Warehouse. |
