Title A Comparative Case Study for Maul-mandulgi Practices - Focused on Kwangju Bukgu and Tokyo Setagayagu Cases

Abstract The purpose of this research is to suggest what is the future direction in developing Maulmandulgi in Korea through comparing Kwangju Bukgu and Setagayagu Taisido Machizukuri cases in terms of Maul-mandulgi ordinance, administration, project achievement, community participation and project promotion methods. The findings from this research are that Maulmandulgi plan is required to relate urban planning system in order to increase the effectiveness of the plan and the assistance code in ordinance requires to be more detailed and embodied to support citizen who participated in Maul-mandulgi activities and projects. In addition, Maul-mandulgi administration is necessary to be done more closed with citizen. Finally, it is essential to enhance community participation that the motivation and necessity of Maul-mandulgi in Korea will be changed to more broad areas which are related to housing redevelopment or urban infrastructure facility improvement. New approach directions for Maul-mandulgi based on this research findings were suggested for promoting the effective using of Maul-mandulgi in Korea.
