First, the surrounding area of Waseda university has been declined and the numbers of off-campus facilities have been obviously increasing since 1985. Second, the University insisted that lower use facilities like warehouse and storage should be located at the surrounding area, while the surrounding area community did not agree to be lower use facilities in the community. Lastly, they wanted the university to revitalize the surrounding area including efficient use of vacant shops and stores. From these results of examination, this study suggested the solutions in four viewpoints for future; the scale, the location, the purpose of the use, and the property pattern. To expand the campus and regenerate the university town to make the base use of off-campus facilities are useful for our country, and this trend agrees with that of developed countries. |
