| Abstract |
Cities in Korea have been continuously urbanized going through the era of drastic change studded with a variety incidents such as penetration of foreign cultures without a voluntary choice forced by foreign invasions, wars and restoration and industrialization for the last 100 years. In particular, the cities that were formed or expanded during the modern age have been seriously challenged to lose overall memories and evidences formed and accumulated for over 100 years. Accordingly, it's imperative to develop methodologies to systematically identify and understand the historic value of cities in the modern age based on the change process. It is essential to analyze the process of landuse change and the historic literature data in comprehensive approach on the basis of historic events and facts presented in the transition of Korean cities. This study is aimed to analyze change process for Busan port's coastline, representative of the modern cities in Korea to materialize the discussion. The study is expected to be used for the ground data to comprehensively analyze historic transition of Busan port faced with a huge change of Inner port(North port and South port), which results from the establishment of new port and formulate the definition of urban management and the principle on coastal landscape management relating to the waterfront re-development of a modern city, Busan. |
