| Abstract |
This study aims to examine the effect of social environment transformation on the outdoor space of Public housing apartment complex. For this purpose, we investigate the interrelationship between the social characteristics and spatial configuration in Korea's apartment complex. Detailed literature review was carried out to elicit the social environment change and Space Syntax was adopted to analyze spatial properties in apartment complex. Then these two variables were analyzed to see the influence of social environmental changes on spatial configuration in the outdoor space. We could find the evidence to explain the transformation of spatial configuration according to the social environment. In order to reflect social changes and consumer desires spatial layout of the complex has been changed. Dramatic change was happened in 2000s by the trends stressing the impotance of revival of community and outdoor activity. This study suggests that social change and spatial properties are related each other, thus we have to be keen to provide healthy outdoor space considering society. |
