| Abstract |
This study investigates Aeyangli community village which is the origian of Yeosu Aeyang Hospital located in Yeosu, Cheonlanamdo. Yeosu Aeyang Hospital(or Aeyangwon) was a missionary facility of its own will for the patients with Hansen's Disease. Originally it was established for the medical treatment of Hansen’s Disease, but later it was changed into a rehabilitation facility for the handicapped. We inverstigated the distinctive feature of the isolated place and the influence of those people by analysing the development process of the community. Presently the place is in the middle of transition such as expansion of Yeosu Airport and development of Industrial area. This study intends to find the cultural value of Aeyangli and make a foundation for cultural tourism by exploring the original form and spatial change of the unique communty. |
