Abstract |
This study aims to build a theoretical basis for urban design management system in a city center. In the transition era of urban development from the rapid growth to the stabilized management, a new urban-design system is required. In response to this requirement, various methods of urban design management are being studied overseas. Urban design management is based on a strategic viewpoint, which can strengthen the unique attractiveness and competitiveness of cities. Based on the visions for a city, it provides an integrated management system including the strategies for governance, citizen participation, design guidelines, facil pation of project rearticipat, and funding. To establish the effective management system, it is necessary to have a clear understanding and systematic management regarding four important elements, such as organization, citizen participation, design, and funding. Moreover, enthusiastic attitude of local government is required along with plans for training and distributing experts to a variety of participating sectors. |
