| Abstract |
The aim of this paper is to analyze present conditions and future development strategies of waterfront in Songdo international city which reclaims from the sea. Research process are as follows : First, this research conducts in-depth literature review and precedent studies to analyse key definitions of waterfront design and establish analytical framework. Second, this research analyses the Detailed Cityscape Plan(DCP) and Master plan of Songdo to study present conditions of Songdo waterfront. Finally, this research conducts detailed design simulation like master plan, detail plan, modeling on Songdo 11 district in order to provide future waterfront development strategies of Songdo. This paper concludes that to improve waterfront design in Songdo, it is necessary to reconsider the city's grid pattern(50-70m), height regulation of building, land use, urban spatial structure, landscape with respect for animal’s habitat. Finally, the design simulation of Songdo 11 district illustrates more sustainable and ecological waterfront design of Songdo and fills the gaps of present research on waterfront design. |
