| Abstract |
This study is basically intended to analyze the urban characteristics of Busan as a film locations city. Process of study consists of three phases. Phase 1, through study of literature, divides the change of Busan as a movie city into ‘beginning period’, ‘turbulent period’, ‘based formative period’, ‘take-off period’ and ‘development period’, extracting transitional characteristics for each period. Phase 2, through study of literature and on-the-spot survey, divides location places into ‘space’ and ‘locality’, then analyzes typical characteristics and present status of maintaining film location places. Phase 3 evaluates the potential of Busan as a film location city by synthesizing phase 1 and 2. Firstly, extracting the attributes inherent in the city as ‘modernity’, ‘folkishness’, ‘oceanic’, ‘duality’, and ‘locality’, investigates the value of the city proposing a process of urban regeneration through protecting and excavating locations. This attempt of study to establish the characteristics of Busan as a film location city is considered to provide suggestions for reestablishing the paradigm of urban management that uses the original landscape and locality of Busan. |
